Mortgage lenders have been notoriously hard to deal with in the past, not accepting certain paperwork from the self-employed when it comes to applications. However, it appears that HMRC have been working to remedy this and make the whole process simpler for taxpayers.
Previously, many lenders have refused to accept print-outs from HMRC’s online services or commercial software, and many applicants, or their advisors have had to contact HMRC directly to get the official documents sent out. This process could take up to 2 weeks, unnecessarily delaying mortgage applications.
Now though, HMRC have advised that they have come to an agreement with Council of Mortgage lenders, who will now accept the online print outs. A full list of lenders who will accept the self-serve copies can be found here.
